Ultralight car

The consortium founded by Pannon Porto Ltd. and KÖ-KA 3000 Ltd. conducts research in Mosonmagyaróvár using EU grants concerning the possibilities of increasing the driving range of electric cars.

Pannon Porto Ltd., based in Mosonmagyaróvár, has been dealing with concrete mixing transport, concrete pumping, gravel mining and transportation, and international transportation since 1997. The professional basis of our application is the more than 10 years of activity of ANTRO Non-Profit Ltd. with the help of third-party partners in the research and development of ultralight vehicles.

Pannon Porto Ltd. has been awarded 372,634,955 Hungarian Forints as non-refundable subsidy from the government program New Széchenyi Plan with its application GOP-1.1.1-11-2012-0602 titled “Research and development of hub motor drive train and related complex control, and research of possible applications of the driving range-increasing motor-generator in the case of ultralight electric cars”. With the help of the full amount for development – worth 663 million Hungarian Forints – it intends to conduct research, and with the usage of the research results it would like to further develop the chassisless monocoque and drive train of the ultralight vehicle.

Due to the facts that the CO2 emission of current cars is quite high, they cause a huge environmental pressure, and fuel prices are increasing automobile industry had to face such developmental claims as the substantial decrease of vehicles’ self-weight and aerodynamic resistance, and the development of multi-hybrid vehicles, with which the owners and researchers of Pannon Porto Ltd. have been dealing since 2001.

The decreased self-weight of cars is planned to be achieved by the usage of such recent substances as glass- or carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic composites. Working in cooperation with ANTRO Non-profit Ltd. as subcontractor – that already has substantial experience and research results in this field – the usage of these substances for the cover and the mountings makes it possible to construct cars 40-60% lighter than the current ones, with the same stability and safety.

The aim of the project is to put such development into practice, as a result of which an absolutely new market product, – that could already be manufactured in small series – an ultralight electric eco-car with increased driving range is created.
